As your league says it: 90 for 90%.
The score handicaps are measured against, often 200, 210 or 220.
These are examples. Replace them with yours: a name and an average, or just the average.
Handicaps · 90% of 220
| Bowler | Average | Handicap per game | For a 3-game series |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ana Reyes | 168 | 46 | 138 |
| Ben Ortiz | 190 | 27 | 81 |
| Carla Diaz | 145 | 67 | 201 |
| Dev Patel | 212 | 7 | 21 |
| Ed Walsh | 231 | 0 | 0 |
How it's worked out
- Handicap is the base minus the bowler's average, times the percentage: 90% of 220 gives a 160-average bowler (220 - 160) x 0.9 = 54 pins.
- The fraction is dropped, not rounded, because you can't bowl part of a pin: 54.9 is 54.
- A bowler averaging at or above the base gets no handicap. It never goes below zero.
- An average with a fraction has the fraction dropped first, the way a league keeps it: 160.8 is worked out as 160.
