Text Message Terms
What LeagueBucket League Alerts sends, how often, and how to stop it. No marketing, ever.
1. The program
LeagueBucket League Alerts is a text-message program run by LeagueBucket LLC on behalf of the league you joined. It exists for one purpose: telling you about your own games.
Messages begin once our carrier registration is complete. Until then you can give consent and nothing will be sent.
2. What we send
Only these, and only for a league you are a member of:
- Game reminders -- that you have a game, when, and where.
- Changes to a scheduled game: a new time, a different venue, a cancellation.
- Results, once your league's scores are posted.
- A one-time confirmation message when you sign up, and a reply to STOP or HELP.
3. What we will never send
No marketing. No promotions for LeagueBucket, for your league, or for anyone else. No messages from sponsors. No messages about a league you are not in.
That one is enforced by somebody other than us, which is the strongest kind of promise on this page: an advertising message would put us outside the campaign we registered with the mobile carriers, and they can shut the program down without asking our opinion.
4. How often
Message frequency varies by league and by how often you play. Expect up to 10 messages per month.
A league that plays weekly and reschedules rarely will be closer to five.
5. How you join, and that you do not have to
You join by entering your mobile number yourself, on your league's text settings page while signed in to the account you joined the league with, and ticking a box that starts unchecked. We then text you once to check the number is really yours; you are only enrolled once you reply YES to that message.
The sign-up form, with the exact words beside that box, is shown on our text alerts sign-up page at leaguebucket.com/legal/sms-opt-in.
Consent to receive texts is not a condition of joining a league, of playing, or of any purchase. Everything LeagueBucket does works without it -- email carries the same notifications, and you can leave the texts off forever without missing anything you have paid for.
We never add a number that somebody else supplied. A commissioner cannot enroll you, and neither can a teammate.
6. How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. That ends the texts immediately and we will send one final message confirming it. STOPP, CANCEL, END, QUIT and UNSUBSCRIBE work the same way.
Reply HELP to any message and we will reply with what this program is and how to reach us. You can also turn texts off in your notification settings, or email support@leaguebucket.com and ask us to do it.
7. Costs
LeagueBucket does not charge you for these messages. Message and data rates may apply -- that is between you and your mobile carrier, and depends on your plan.
8. Your number, and what happens to it
We use your mobile number to send you these messages and for nothing else.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share it only with the messaging provider that delivers the message on our behalf, which is what makes delivery possible and is not a marketing use. We do not sell it, rent it, or trade it, on any plan, for any reason.
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information generally, including how to ask us to delete it.
9. Age
This program is for people aged 18 and over. We do not send text messages to players recorded as minors.
Where a player is a minor, their household contact -- a parent or guardian -- signs up in their own name, with their own number, and receives that player's alerts. This is stricter than the law requires. A youth league is exactly where a text message to a child would be most harmful and hardest to undo, so we do not do it at all.
10. Delivery is not guaranteed
Text messages depend on mobile carriers, and carriers are not obliged to deliver them. Messages can be delayed or lost for reasons no one here controls, and we are not liable when that happens.
So a text is a convenience and never the record. Your league's schedule on LeagueBucket is the authoritative version -- if a message and the schedule disagree, the schedule is right.
11. Reaching a person
Email support@leaguebucket.com. A reply to HELP will give you the same address.
If you are getting messages you did not ask for, say so in that email and we will stop them and tell you what we find -- an unwanted message is a defect on our side, not an inconvenience on yours.
